Celebrate the 2nd year of the Breakwater Swim returning to the Torbay Swim Calendar! In 2026 we will be swimming a slightly different route, and have the option of 2 and 4km swims. Enjoy an exhilarating swim in crystal-clear waters with spectacular views of the coastline.

Route information

Rich in local history and thriving open-water swimming community, this event aims to showcase the beauty of Brixham’s coastline while promoting environmental awareness, community spirit, and sustainable practices.

The swim will be a choice of skins or wetsuit, any front stroke and the sign up fee includes your race hat, timings, post swim sports drink, post swim hot chocolate, full professional safety cover and a finishers medal. There are also trophies for those who win 1sst, 2nd, 3rd male/female in each distance.

The 2km swim is open to anyone age 16+. Anyone age 16 or 17 will need to swim with a chaperone at the side for the whole swim. The 4km swim is open to anyone aged 18+.

The course is 2km, staring at the breakwater beach, swimming right along the beach towards Shoalstone Pool, before turning around and swimming to the end of the Breakwater. Once you've turned at the end of the breakwater you'll follow the breakwater wall back to the start. If you're swimming 4km, you will swim a 2nd lap.

This swim can be swim in 'skins' or wetsuit, and you can swim using any front stroke (front crawl, breaststroke...even butterfly and doggy paddle!)
