About

Step into history and take on one of the most powerful endurance challenges in Europe and support those who have served. The D-Day 44 Challenge offers three epic route options across the historic Normandy coastline:
  • 44 Mile Ultra
  • 22 Mile Run
  • 22 Mile Walk
All challenges take place on the Normandy beaches on the anniversary of the 1944 D-Day landings - 6 June 2027.
This unique endurance event is held in support of Combat Stress, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to helping veterans recover from PTSD.
The challenge takes place 5–8 June 2027 in Normandy, France, as part of a fully organised four-day experience. Your package includes:
  • Return transport from London
  • Three nights’ accommodation
  • All meals throughout the trip
  • A pasta party the night before the challenge
  • A sightseeing day exploring historic D-Day locations
  • Full medical and event support
This is more than a challenge. It’s a journey through history, courage, and sacrifice - across the very beaches where Allied forces changed the course of the Second World War.
Whether you walk, run, or take on the ultra distance, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the soldiers who landed here in 1944, while helping today’s veterans fight their own battles.
Challenge yourself. Honour their legacy. Support veterans.

Route information

The Route
Your journey begins at Pointe du Hoc, the dramatic clifftop where Colonel Rudder and 200 US Rangers scaled the vertical chalk cliffs using ropes and ladders under heavy fire.
From this historic starting point, the route heads east with the vast Channel stretching beside you. Waves crash against the cliffs below as you move through stunning Norman countryside.
You’ll pass through open farmland and quiet coastal trails, where reminders of the past still stand. German defensive bunkers, remnants of the Atlantic Wall, and wartime relics scattered across the landscape.
As the route descends towards Arromanches, participants in the 22-mile challenge join the 44-mile ultra runners. Here you’ll experience one of the most breathtaking moments of the course — a dramatic descent into a traditional Norman village with sweeping views over the remains of the legendary Mulberry Harbours.
The journey continues along the historic coastline towards Ouistreham, before turning south along the Orne Canal.
Soon an iconic landmark appears ahead, Pegasus Bridge, one of the most famous objectives captured in the opening hours of D-Day. The bridge marks the emotional finish of your challenge.
At the finish line you’ll be welcomed with a well-earned celebratory drink, great food, and the incredible feeling of completing a challenge steeped in history.
Your overnight accommodation is located just a short journey from the finish, allowing you to relax and celebrate your achievement.
