Join us for the Middlesbrough Half Marathon on Sunday 7th March 2027
Fast, flat, and packed with atmosphere, the Middlesbrough Half Marathon returns for its third year and continues to establish itself as one of the North East’s standout road races. Presented by Science in Sport and in support of the Great North Air Ambulance Service, this fully road-closed event brings big-race energy right into the heart of the town.

Route information
This fast and flat half marathon takes runners right into the heart of Middlesbrough, showcasing the very best of the town’s landmarks and community spirit. Starting in Centre Square, outside the Town Hall and the MIMA gallery, the fully road‑closed route heads out through the beautiful Albert Park before sweeping past the home of Middlesbrough FC at the Riverside Stadium.
From there, runners loop around the historic docks before making their way back to Centre Square for an unforgettable finish in front of cheering crowds. With its smooth, PB‑friendly profile and vibrant city‑centre atmosphere, this is a race that appeals to everyone — from first‑timers chasing a memorable debut to seasoned runners looking for speed.
And for younger runners, the event also features a 1km Kids’ Fun Run, giving children the chance to enjoy the excitement of race day in a safe, supportive, and family‑friendly environment.

Hillstreet Shopping Centre Car Park: Located in the town centre, offering pre-booked parking from £2.50/day.
Parkopedia: Use Parkopedia to find additional parking options near Centre Square.
Note: Due to road closures from 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM on race day, plan your arrival and parking accordingly.

CUT-OFF TIME
Please note there is a 3hr cut off on this race due to road closures in place
MINIMUM AGES
Half Marathon - 17 years and above
BAGGAGE
We will have a secure marquee/room/area where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.
TOILETS
Portable toilets are available in the event village with some event toilets on the route.
REFRESHMENTS
There will be water provided at the 3mi, 6mi & 9mi points of the race, and there will also be water available at the finish.
RESULTS
Results will be available here immediately after the race.
