Route information

This event based in Hamsterley Forest, County Durham's largest forest, features both 5 mile and 10 mile distances. You can expect incredible scenery and views as they run, spurring you on to tackle the course's challenging hills.
The out-and-back course is hilly, but expect some lengthy descents on the return leg to give your muscles a break. The race begins and ends at the Nest Car Park, near the middle of Hamsterley Forest Drive.
There will be water stations along the course every 3 miles.

Parking is available at Nest Car Park and free at Hamsterley Forest using a race discount provided within the race pack.
The Forest sits wedged between Teesdale and Weardale in the heart of beautiful Durham Dales, approximately 10 miles (16k) west of Bishop Auckland.
The forest is signposted off the A68, north of West Auckland. Cars are charged £3 each (£5 on bank holiday weekends) on the Forest Drive to access the Forest and it’s facilities.
Minibuses are charged at £8 each and coaches £12. There is no charge for visitors on foot.
By Public Transport
This event is not easily accessible by public transport. It is recommended that you drive to the Run Durham Hamsterley - Remembrance 10 Miler & 5 Miler.

11:02 10 mile and 5 mile start
*Participants are advised to arrive between 45 and 60 minutes before their race starts to leave enough time to register and warm up.
Race Packs
All race packs including numbers and chips must be collected on the day from registration at Hamsterley Forest. Nothing will be sent out in advance to participants.
More detailed race instructions and information will be emailed to participants 3 days before the event.
Age Requirements
- 5 mile: All entrants must be 15 years or older to participate
- 10 mile: All entrants must be 17 years or older to participate
Bag Drop
There'll be a bag drop where you'll be able to leave your bag at race HQ whilst you race.
On-site Facilities
Toilets and refreshments will be available at race HQ.
