Route information

One iconic trail. One hundred breathtaking kilometres. The Sirona 100km will take place on Mother Nature’s rollercoaster – the Wales Coast Path. Setting off from Machynlleth and finishing in Cardigan, participants will experience some of the best that the Wales Coast Path has to offer.
A challenge not for the faint hearted, participants take on 100 kilometre, with 10,000 ft of elevation gain.

Machynlleth is a historic market town in Mid Wales that lies just outside the southern boundary of Snowdonia National Park in the scenic Dyfi Valley. It’s easily reached from the south via the A487 trunk road — for example, from Cardiff it’s roughly 80 miles (about a 2½‑ to 3‑hour drive) north along the A470/A489/A487
By Train
You can reach Machynlleth by train on the Cambrian Line, with regular services running east to Shrewsbury and west towards Aberystwyth and along the Cambrian Coast Line. From Machynlleth you can continue on the same line to coastal destinations.

Age Requirements
Participants must be aged 18 or over on race day to start the race.
Mandatory Kit
  • Appropriate footwear (trail shoes recommended)
  • Water bottles (1.5 litre minimum in total)
  • Fully charged mobile phone
  • Downloaded GPX/GPS files
  • Head lamp or other light source
  • Survival bag
  • Waterproof clothing (top and trousers, both with taped seams)
  • Warm clothing (down jacket or fleece, hat, gloves, base or mid layer)
  • Backpack
  • Blister kit
  • Re-useable cup
  • Adequate food reserves (500 calories minimum when leaving the start line/each checkpoint)
